MASTURBATE
MUCH? REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD STOP

By Tanisha Brown

Along with donuts, carbs, and alcohol, orgasms sit high atop the list of things I craved – until I learned about NoFap.

I was addicted to coaxing the genie out of the lamp. It started an innocent and infrequent habit, but months later, I played the clitar once a day before I became a bonafide lip gloss applier. Simply put, I was addicted to Masturbation for ten years.

The growing epidemic of women addicted to porn and Masturbation is an increasing problem. With a decline in mental health and easy access to porn, the phenomenon that once affected men primarily is now sinking its grip on women worldwide.

As for me, Masturbation made me feel a special kind of way, even if for only a few minutes. It was fast, easy, and as I got older, the frequency rose, my toys needed their own storage container, and by the time I graduated college, I held a double major in journalism and Masturbation.

Relationship or not, flicking my bean was a part of me until 2017

Masturbation was ruining my life. I felt numb, lost motivation, and became disconnected from dating, and that’s when I heard about the anti-masturbation movement called NoFap.

The basic premise of NoFap is no masturbation and no porn. The movement is enormous among men, and now women are getting diving in (no pun intended). The challenge begins with a promise to not masturbate for 30 days, and it’s not easy. In my first attempt, I failed in just four hours, my second attempt lasted two days, and precisely a year and one month after constant failure, I completed my first 30 days, and for me, it was life-changing.

Why is Masturbation so addictive?

Fighting an addiction is never easy, especially in the case of Masturbation. When a woman reaches orgasm, their bodies release oxytocin, and dopamine levels shoot through the roof. The release of oxytocin releases stress and makes you feel content, while dopamine, a neurotransmitter, is a “pleasure chemical” linked to massive addiction. This is why it’s hard to quit.

How I felt after my first 30 days of NoFap

After completing my first 30 days of NoFap, I noticed a better relationship with my partner. My emotional connection became more robust, I became more confident in myself, and more importantly, I felt motivated and alive.

But here’s the ringer. The above-stated benefits were nothing – and I mean nothing – compared to how my first orgasm after 30 days felt. It was nothing short of incredible, and that in itself is a reason not to touch yourself for 30 days because it’s like a reset button.  The sensitivity of my private parts increased 10-fold. But that shouldn’t come as a surprise since I was constantly abusing poor little kitty.

The benefits I experienced from not masturbating for 30 days:

  • Increased motivation
  • Increased mental energy
  • More focus
  • Increased sensitivity in my privates
  • Stronger orgasm
  • More self-confidence

I took on the challenge as a means of self-improvement. It was my way of reconnecting with myself, and it was not easy, but worth the time. It’s changed my perspective, increased my self-esteem, and I’m sharing my story with others to let them know that they’re not alone.
